The Hawthorne experiments are a series of experiments conducted around 1930 that examined the influence of working conditions and social structures within a company on work performance. The results refuted or expanded Frederick Winslow Taylor's (1886-1915) concept of "scientific management" (also known as Taylorism) from 1911 to include intensive consideration of social aspects and became a decisive argument in the human relations movement of the following years.
