MM 04Maccoby's playmaker theory
The jungle fighter is the exact opposite of the professional: an economic Darwinist. He is driven by competition. He is less technically competent and principled than the professional, but he is clever and cunning. His goal is to assert himself in the corporate jungle and he will do anything to achieve this. For him, a win is a demonstration of his power, while a loss is humiliation. Maccoby distinguishes between two subtypes: lion and fox. The lion is the leader who enjoys conquest, triumph and organization, while the fox is seen as egocentric and deceitful. While the professional is a loner, the jungle fighter can be seen as a lone fighter.
