Cooperative leadership is rooted in the self-image of a working community and operates according to the bottom-up principle. Management places itself on the same level as its workforce: decisions are made democratically, and the company's objectives are formulated jointly.
At the same time, personal interaction is fostered, engagement is encouraged, and problems are solved together. The core principles of cooperative leadership are:
-Employees have a great influence on decision-making
-there is open and a lot of communication
-Praise and criticism
-mutual respect and appreciation
-joint problem solving
-flat hierarchy, leadership as “part of the team”
-positive error culture
-Teamwork
Management becomes the moderator of the discussion and no longer pools information, but rather the opinions and interests of the workforce, ultimately evaluating them. This requires a certain level of communication skills. Delegations also occur in a cooperative leadership style, but they are discussed jointly, and there is largely individual or team responsibility.
