CIP is a frequently used basic principle in quality management and is now an indispensable part of ISO 9001. It was first introduced in the German car industry in the 1990s as a German adaptation of the Japanese "Kaizen" and has since become widespread. Kaizen was first developed in the 1950s by the Japanese car manufacturer Toyota.
The basic idea is that the employees who work on site with the
work are allowed to contribute their ideas to the company's management. This means that they should be encouraged to make suggestions for improvement. Kaizen and continuous improvement are therefore components of an employee- and participation-oriented company culture.
